shaped - sized

Shaped nappies are essentially the inside bit of a two-part nappy system. They are made of terry, fleece or a combination of the two and fasten with velcro/aplix or poppers. They require a separate waterproof wrap to keep the wet in.

These are all 'sized' nappies which means you'll need to buy 2 or possibly 3 sizes to get frm newborn to potty trained. Although this is a more costly option than using 'birth to potty' nappies the advatages include better fitting nappies and less bulk on newborn babies.

A re-design of the classic Bamboozle. This nappy is now made from super soft stretchy bamboo which is harder wearing than the traditional bamboo terry and better for hard water areas.

Available in 2 sizes but the size 2 nappy can be used from 9lb using the poppers on the front to make the nappy shorter.

The hidden absorbent core is microfibre to speed up the drying time and the additional bamboo booster that comes with each nappy is attached with poppers so can be removed for washing and to make the nappy slimmer for light wetters/smaller babies.

thirsties - fab fitted nappies

These certainly are a 'fab' fitted!

It's a simple design, fastening with Aplix and gently elasticated at the waist and legs. The beauty is in the fabrics...

The outer is a super-soft layer of cotton velour in a range of wonderful colours. The core - the hidden absorbent material - is super-absorbent microfibre terry making this nappy lightweight yet - as the name suggests - thirsty!

The inner layer, against the skin, is soft, stay-dry microfleece which is stain resistant and comfortable.

Available in four sizes from birth to potty (but you won't necessarily need all of them as there's good contingency built into the weight guidelines) to make it a very slim fitting nappy that is just super-easy to use and care for.

Our trials suggest that this nappy washes and wears very well and the quality of materials is excellent.

Oh, I nearly forgot to say, it dries incredibly quickly too! Currently available in seven luscious colours, plus white.

A new design for 2007! This is the same slim, absorbent hemp nappy that's become a firm favourite but now the 'soaker' (the absorbent core) that was previously hidden away in the centre of the nappy and slowed down the drying time is a handy booster that is sewn in at one end only and flaps out to greatly speed up drying time and aid the washing process too as the less layers sewn together the better the water and detergent can circulate through the nappy in the washing machine.

Made from hemp rather than cotton this is a lovely soft stretchy nappy that provides a great level of absorbency with minimum bulk.

Because hemp is more absorbent weight-for-weight than cotton this is not a bulky nappy and yet we find it more than adequate as a day nappy.

Hemp is also more eco-friendly than cotton, being a hardier plant that requires less chemical weedkillers to produce a good crop.

Although hemp is fairly slow drying compared to cotton this nappy is slim enough to compete with the slimmest cotton alternatives on our drying rack...

Fastens with plentiful poppers for great adjustability.

Coloured overlocking and coordinated poppers make this a very smart nappy!

These are truly gorgeous nappies...

Made from super soft cotton fleece (* see below) they are gently elasticated for great fit and fasten at the waist with a good range of poppers.

They come in 3 sizes and the size 0 is just about the most perfect newborn nappy we've ever seen. It even has a special pop-down front to allow for sensitive umbilical areas to heal.

This is a fairly 'low slung' nappy so may not be a good fit on long skinny babies, we've found it tends to suit chubbier babies the best!

Colors! nappies have gorgeous vivid soft cotton fleece outers with unbleached cotton fleece inners * Cotton fleece - this is NOT the 'stay dry polyester fleece commonly found in pocket style nappies and used as liners, it is 100% cotton - rather like the inside of an expensive sweatshirt - and as such it does not act as a stay dry barrier.

Made from gorgeous, soft, long loop unbleached terry this is a lovely nappy.

It's lined with unbleached cotton jersey so the nappy has no synthetic fabric making it great for delicate newborn skin and the cotton jersey will stay soft in even the hardest water.

As simple as can be, it has long wings that pull round to fasten with a nappi nippa (the best way to get a good fit on a most babies in our opinion).

The newborn nappy is sized to fit up to around 18lb with generous 'wings' to enable a good fit on rapidly growing newborn babies. The size 2 will fit from 18lb up to around 35lb.

We've classed this nappy as 'medium' based on our absorbency tests - the newborn size has one less layer of terry in it's core and may need boosting towards the end of the weight range and the size 2 also may need boosting for a heavy wetter but both sizes are dependable and make great day time nappies for most babies.

We think this nappy is great value for money!

This is a super cute nappy - perfect fit from newborn to potty training with 3 sizes, very flexible absorbency and good value for money!

Made from 4 layers of white terry and lined with soft polyester fleece, it is slim-line yet absorbent and the fleece inner draws wet away from the skin helping to keep delicate skin dry.

The 'Quick Dry' has a flap-out booster so it drys very quickly for a cotton terry nappy. You can also add an additional booster to the pocket if needed.

Fasten with a nappi nippa to get a perfect, no-hassle fit every time.

The 'bimble' can also be used as additional stuffing for the 'bumble' - just make sure that you place it in the bumble with the fleece lining facing away from the fleece inner in the bumble, so that you don't have two layers of fleece together and start repelling wee rather than absorbing it!

All 3 sizes can be used from birth, the size 1 and size 2 will fit from birth with the front folded down before nippa'ing but obviously the larger sizes will be relatively more bulky than using all 3 (or at least 2) sizes from birth to potty.

This is a lovely nappy, definitely one of Tom's favourites! It's made from soft brushed cotton terry knit and fastens with poppers in the same configuration as the Airflow (Air-Rika) wrap allowing for the legs and waist to be adjusted independently. This makes it a great nappy for babies with a skinny waist and chubby thighs or vice versa. The waist and legs are softly elasticated making it very leak-proof and it has slightly more padding than the Mother-ease One Size nappy making it more absorbent. Even so, the clever design makes it a relatively slim fitting nappy even with the extra absorbency.

The rikki wrap is lovely with this nappy.
